Tigerleaf - Etched Pewter Cuff.

Care instructions

For this cuff I recommend cleaning with a silver cloth to maintain their shine. Always rub in the same direction, not in a circular motion. Can be washed in warm soapy water, dry immediately after to prevent any water staining.

Materials

The pewter sheet is degreased and then coated with a light sensitive photo emulsion, once this is dry it is then exposed to UV light with a positive acetate of the artwork on top to create the image, similar to exposing a photograph. The image is then washed out and prepared for etching, once it is etched the emulsion is removed and I cut and finish the edges. I then form the cuff on a bangle mandrel and polish it depending on the desired finish I want to achieve.

Meet the maker
My work brings together the printmaker’s craft with age-old intaglio metalworking techniques to produce surface pattern as a tactile three dimensional form. I work mainly in pewter, its versatility perfectly suits the message I hope to evoke in my work, be it jewellery, tableware or surfaces.
