After completing her MA in Book Arts from Camberwell College of Arts, Heather Weston set up Bookery in 2003/4 with help from a start-up grant from the Crafts Council. Since then she has worked exclusively with the book form and during the designing and making process uses skills and techniques as diverse as binding, sewing, embossing and printing. She is currently based at Cockpit Arts in Holborn, London, but is plotting a move to a studio in her back garden (once it's built!). She sells direct to the public and is very happy to take on public and private commissions based around her current portfolio.

Q: What is your favourite colour?A: GreenQ: Who first inspired you to start making/ creating and what words of advice did they give you?A: My Mum gave me two books when I was about three years old: "Things to Do" and "Things to Make". I haven't looked back since then. I've always loved putting things together from the raw ingredients, and I distinctly remember this being the start.Q: Where and when do you most like to work?A: In my studio, with a coffee, with a little help from my iPod. Other times I can't do anything without silence. Q: Which season of the year most inspires you?A: SpringQ: What can't you work without?A: Music/Silence - depending on the work required. Couldn't really do much without paper, either.Q: Whose work do you most admire?A: Too many to name but I actually don't have any favourites, although Cornelia Parker should get a mention.Q: What is your favourite piece of fiction and why?A: Now, this may make me sound a bit strange, but I don't really read fiction (a mild dyslexia makes fiction not quite the enjoyable thing it should be) - I'm more of a non-fiction girl. Q: What do you do to relax?A: Glass of wine (Chablis please), nice food. Q: Describe your artistic style in 3 words. A: Lateral. Holistic. Dialectical. (it took soooooo long to hone it down to 3 - I think I need a glass of Chablis now!)
