A ceramic wall piece, handbuilt with printed texture
Biog
I studied ceramics at the University of Brighton, graduating in 2006. I make my work on a potter’s wheel, and using this process I strive to describe the soft, malleable properties of unfired clay within the form of the finished piece: soft round forms and undulations and dimples in the surface of the work retain the essence of clay in its raw form. I use semi-porcelain stoneware clay, which gives a clean white base for colour and is durable. I am inspired by the natural patterns and colours repeated in the Sussex landscape, and use photographs and sketches of the landscape and flora to inform my work.
