Meet the maker
I am a designer maker based in Liverpool.
I make cushions, scarves and smaller items such as lavender bags and buttons. Fabrics used include velvet, silk, tweed and cotton lawns.
In May 2012 I was invited to take part in Handmade in Britain’s show, London a Celebration at the Oxo Galleries in London. For this I launched a new collection called City on Cloth. City on Cloth is digitally printed fabric, featuring old maps, which is then transformed into scarves and smaller items.
The inspiration for my work is the use of colour, often the juxtaposition of colours not usually put together. I get lots of inspiration when I am sourcing new fabrics. One of my favourite periods in history, literature and music is the 1920's and 1930's and some of my colourways reflect period themes
Everything is made from start to finish by myself and my aim that whoever buys one has a one-off, hand crafted, well made item which will give pleasure for years to come. As well as being beautiful to look at they are immensely practical and hard wearing.
