'Tigerleaf' - Etched and Patinated Pewter Cufflinks. With Black Tone Knurl Cufflink Backs Setting.

For these cufflinks I recommend cleaning with a silver cloth to maintain their shine. Always rub in the same direction, not in a circular motion. As the fronts are patinated any abrasives will remove the dark colour.

The pewter sheet is degreased and then coated with a light sensitive photo emulsion, once this is dry it is then exposed to UV light with a positive acetate of the artwork on top to create the image, similar to exposing a photograph. The image is then washed out and prepared for etching, once it is etched the emulsion is removed and I cut and finish the edges. I then degrease the metal again and immerse it in a patinating fluid to achieve the dark colour, the metal is washed and I then carefully sand back the etched front to reveal the image and seal the colour with museum wax. The cufflink backs are then attached with a two hour epoxy glue.
