1970s

A decade of uncertainty and the arrival of the three-day week toned down the optimistic colour choices of the 1960s. Fabrics sported large florals and strong geometric patterns fashion sported ethnic influences for a time. Glass, leather, vinyl and faux fur were all popular in the home. Floor cushions, white rattan chairs, shag pile carpet.

Colours
Colours were more muted than the 1960s, softer, less vibrant reds, brown and sunny yellow, turquoise, blue, green and orange.
