Melissa Nicholls

Glass maker
Glass is such a captivating material. I love its many forms, glowing and molten or solid and reflective. I enjoy using colour and creating sculptural forms, which are tactile and contemplative.

Q:Your seashell is beautifull, and the colour is just right. How long did it take you to make this piece.
Asked by Wendy Hodgetts on 18 August 2012
A:Hi Wendy, Thank you for your feedback. This piece took about an hour altogether. There are several processes involved in hot and cold working the glass. Once the piece is made in the hotshop though it has be cooled very slowly over night and then I was able to mask it off and sandblast it.
